COMMUNITY SERVICE.
WORK OF Y.M.C.A. WIDE FIELD OF ACTIVITY. With the naming of the Hamilton Y.M.C.A. as Community House, a fitting title descriptive of the wide Held of activity of this organisation has been found- From a small beginning many years ago the Hamilton Y.M.C.A. which has now associated with it the Y.W.G.A., has grown to an extent where many branches ol' community service are included among its activities.
Besides being the meeitng place of many sporting, social ,and religious bodies, the Hamilton building is the headquarters of employment bureaux conducted by the Y.M.C.A.-Y.W-C.A. for workless boys and girls. That good work ilia been done here is indicated by the lengthy list of jobs which have been found for those in need of work. The Association has taken on active part in reducing unemployment among youth.
The Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.G-A. is associated with many -branches of social work, including the care of Flock House trainees, and the 'Big Brother Movement, for the care of juveniles under the supervision of child welfare officers.
Many hundreds of young people receive physical training in the gymnasium, while there are several other branches of the association's work involving tiie physical aspect. On Tuesday the Association will make its annual appeal for funds to carry on its work, by way of a street collection in Hamilton.
