WOMAN PRODUCER.

FOR DRURY LANE THEATRE. FIRST IN ITS HISTORY. For the first time in the history of Drury Lane Theatre, London, a new play there is to be .produced by a woman. Leontine Sagan, who achieved such success with her direction of the film and stage versions of “Children in Uniform,” has 'been chosen for this distinction. She arrived in London from Hollywood recently, and began directing rehearsals of “ Glamorous Night," the romantic musical play by Ivor Novello, which will succeed the pantomime at Drury Lane just before Easter. A Trial Production. “iGlamorous Night,” in which Mr Novello is to act, will have a preliminary production in the north—the first occasion on which a Drury Lane show has been given a trial run. Miss Sagan was born in Hungary, spent most of her childhood in the Transvaal, and later studied and 'taught dramatic art at Professor Reinhardt’s school in Berlin. Last June Miss Sagan, was the first woman invited by the Oxford University Dramatic Society to stage one of their productions. She produced “Richard III.” for them with great success, the setting being, for the first time, the cloisters of Christ Church. , , Miss Sagan also produced Murder in Mayfair," Mr Novello’s play now running at the Globe Theatre. She has recently been assisting in the production of “David Copperfleld at Hollywood.
