WOMEN’S AUXILIARY
UNEMPLOYED MOVEMENT. The weekly meeting was held in Toorak Hall on Tuesday, Mrs Snookes presiding. A letter was received from the officer in charge of the local labour bureau stating that boots will be Issued to sustenance men and men on No. 5 Scheme who have been registered for the requisite period. Appreciation of Mr Wilson’s assistance in this matter was expressed. The nomination of Mrs Snookes as candidate for the borough council election was announced and arrangements were made to further the candidature. A resolution was passed), asking'; that the sentences on 'Christchurch, women demonstrators be annulled.. Presentations were made to Mrs. Snookes and- Mrs Collins as an expression of appreciation of their services to the movement 'Correspondence relative to the recent Auckland Conference was read and the meeting decided that it could not at present send a delegate to the Auckland Provincial Council’s monthly meeting, but would endeavour to be represented later. Hostesses for morning tea were Mesdames Meac'hem and Sanderson.
