RACING.

TE AROHA NOTES. KING MESTOR SCHOOLED. MUNGATOON IN GOOD TRIM. (Special to Times). TE AROMA, Saturday. The Musketoon gelding, Aramis, leased last season by Mrs iN. Kinn, of Wairakau; to Mrs R. M. Scelly, of Auckland, has been brought back from Ellerslie and has been turned out on his owner’s property. This horse showed galloping ability on the tracks, but never struck tip-top condition. Evidently he requires more time. King Mestor commenced his schooling work over hurdles this week. He' is very solid, in •condition, and as he carries weight well should be a good winter proposition. Mr 11. M. Davidson has thrown Don’t Lap out of work, and for a time at least he will not carry racing colours. This Lapidary gelding won two high-weight events at the ’last Thames meeting, but since tHen has failed to come away at the business end of his contests. He is quite a good jumper, but does not always run up to track form. The latest accession to C. E. Mallowes’ stable is Desert Star. When trained by this mentor two seasons ago the Sandstar gelding 'won races and it is quite likely that he may be brought into winning vein again. Mr R. B. Hines' Nahlin is training on satisfactorily, and is to be raced at the Auckland Autumn meeting at Easter. 'King Wfn, in the same stable, has not yet completely recovered from the effect of the hock Injury sustained at Ellerslie in November last. Mr iP. A. Swney is again working ■Mungatoon and Mungacre on the local tracks. The first-named is in fine trim and'with'the sting out of the grouhd is , galloping very freely. 'Mungacre", who underwent an operation for respiratory trouble, is looking especially well and is bowling along in his work in a manner that denotes an early return to form. The rising two-year-old illly by Gay Shield—• Lady Ruth, recently purchased by Mr Swney from the Breeder, Mr L. Si Otway,, has been broken in and will ■start on her preliminary track work in a few weeks. The Ohinemurl Gup winner, Gay Rose, is looking especially well, and at Easter should be right at the lop ■of her form, and ready lo show her galloping capacity at Ellerslie, where ■incidentally it may be noted that members of the Lennart! family have won many races.
