AMATEUR ATHLETICS,
THE CENTENARY GAMES. NEW ZEALAND REPRESENTATIVES. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The following athletic" team was selected last evening to represent New Zealand at the Centenary Games In Melbourne next month; — J. B. Macfarlane ' (Canterbury), 100yds. and 220yds. T. G. Broadway (Canterbury), 440yds. and 880yds. L. C. McLac'hlan (Otago), 880yds. and mile. H. K. Brainsby (Auckland), hop, step and jump and long jump. F. Sharpley (Hawke’s Bay), 120yds. hurdles, 100yds. ’ and 220yds. low hurdles (if held). T. J."Crowe (Wellington), high jump, hop, step and jump and long jump. For the three miles A. R. Wilson (Whangarei) and C. H. Matthews (Canterbury) will be asked to run in a further trial, possibly at Napier, at a date not yet fixed. If there is a walking race at the Games at Melbourne I. Drlscpll (Hawke’s Bay) will make the trip.'
