PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. “ Be a Friend to Every Friendless Animal.”
Dear Girls and Boys,—How happy you can he this goodwill time ir you will remember that it is the time or peace, rejoicing, thanksgiving, Kindne 3 ? towards one another; both to nmnklnd and to the animal world. Always he a Trlend to every animal, do all you can to cheer and help them on their way, whether passing or staying with >ou—Jou will then gain their love and trust. J oy and happiness will then shine around because of one more kind deed performed in this world. This, I think, is a really good plea on the part or all animals especially written by Frank Stevens Tor the Alley Cats, and should reach the heart of every hoy and girl, w'hether a Junior S.P.C.A. or not so try and make everyone happy, dears. I hope ror nothing better than your smile, When silently across your path I stray, And ft perchance you think it worth your while Give me what you would throw away;
Or if In' me you see some quality, Some sign that makes you want me Tor your pet, , 0 gladly will I come! and you shall see How soon my lowly hirth you will forget And faithfully I’ll do the things you ask; Your happiness will be my life-long task. Do try, dears, to make this a really bright and happy Christmas for every living being that crosses your path day by day. Only by giving away such happiness can you hope to receive your share. Now rqmembor what your League stands for —the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals—so there need be no necessity for curing. Prevention is better than cure. Now let me wish you, every one, a Happy and Prosperous New Year and lots of fun. I thank every one of you for all your kind wishes, cards, and presents you have sent to me. I think you are all such dears, so in return I send my very best wishes with lots of love. Cheerio all Waikato Junior S.P.C.A’s. “TINKER BELL."
