RETURN OF £123. SENT THROUGH THE POST. EXPERIENCE OF STOREKEEPER. (By Telegrapn.—.press Association,) GISBORNE, Thursday, A storekeeper in a small Poverty Bay township who had the misfortune to lose £l5O In banknotes anid silver a few days ago this afternoon received through the post £ 123 of the lost money. On Saturday, following a practice ■carried 'out for several years, a taxidriver was given a cheque by the storekeeper to bring back change from a bank In Gisborne. The cheque was for £l5O and the taxi-driver was told to bring back £125 ill notes and £25 in silver. He obtained the money from the hank ahd placed It bn the floor of his car, hut oh arrival back at the township he discovered that the board on which the money had been placed had fallen through’ the bottom of the Cal'. The hoard was well worn and •probably the weight of the silver coins ■caused the breakage. The loss was advertised, but there was no trace of the money until this afternoon, when the storekeeper received by post a parcel in dirty brown wrapping paper containing banknotes to the value of £123. There was no indication as to who was the sender.
