Kondylis, after receiving a Christmas “present”, of a potassium chlorate bomb disguised as a book on military strategy, was saved from death. Just before opening the gift his orderly brought him an anonymous letter which had been left at the door of the Ministry warning him not to touch the package of explosives. Experts declared that the device certainly was lethal.
