TAURANGA REGATTA.
HAMILTON’S SUCCESSES. ROWING EVENTS DECIDED. TAURANGA, Wednesday. With fine weather prevriling the annual regatta was held to-day. The water was choppy for rowing races, but only a few boats were swamped, although several events were delayed lo give the oarsmen the benefit of the slacker water late in the afternoon. Results of the rowing events were:
Junior Double Sculls, mile and ahalf. —Hamilton (C. Lewis, B. Sandos), 1; Tauranga, 2. Won by six lengths.
Youths’ Fours, one mile. —Tauranga 1; Hamilton (A. Searle, W. Walker, J. Hurrell, F. Jackson). 2; Mercer, 3. Won by two lengths. Single Sculls Handicap, one mile.— J. R. Biss (St. George’s), 455, 1; T. J. Plummer (Tauranga), 30s, 2; A. Morey (Mercer), 30s, 3. Won by a length.
Junior Pair Oars, open, mile and a-half. —Tauranga, 1; West End, 2; Waitemata, 3. Won by four lengths. » Maiden Fours, 10 stone and Under, one mile. —Waitemata, 1; Tauranga, 2; West End, 3. Won by two lengths. Maiden Double Sculls, one mile.— Hamilton (P. Hewlett and M. Taylor) 1; West End, 2; Waitemata, 3. Won by two lengths. Maiden Fours (open), one mile.—• Whangarei, 1; Opotiki, 2; Hamilton No. 1 (J. Stuart, L. Skeet, B. Peart, L. Pardington), 3. Junior Fours (open), 1J miles.— Tauranga, 1; Hamilton (R. Shirley, W. Brook, R. Remitis, P. Hewlett), 2; West End, 3. Won easily by four lengths. Maiden Pair Oars, one mile. —Tauranga, 1; Ngaruawahia (W. Taylor and N. Mcßurney), 2; Hamilton No. 2 (F. Cassidy and W. Blanche), 3. Won by a length. Senior Fours, two miles.—Hamilton (G. W. St.Clair, J. Clough, E. A. Waters, G. M. Taylor), 1; Tauranga, 2; St. George’s, 3. Won by three lengths.
