DEATH OF YOUTH.

FATAL FALL AT HASTINGS

YOUNG MAN ARRESTED. CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Wednesday. As a result of serious -head injuries received, it is alleged, when he fell after being attacked on Christmas Eve, the death occurred late last night of Wilfred George Farquharson, aged 18, second son of Detective Farquharson, of Hastings. Deceased accompanied a girl home after the shops closed on Christmas Eve, assisting her with her parcels. On arrival at the girl’s home, Farquharson was approached from behind, and, it is alleged, was dealt a blow while still holding the parcels. He fell and struck his head on the concrete kerbing In his fall with the result that he received serious injuries. Farquharson was taken home in an unconscious sjondition by a friend in a car. For a brief period only he regained consciousness and died some 24 hours later.

As a sequel, a young man, Maurice James Brooker, appeared in the Police Court this morning 'Charged, with manslaughter. He was remanded until January 16, bail being refused. •Farquharson was a very popular and well-known youth.
