COULD NOT STOP HORSE. PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. There was'a sensational ending to the cup race at the first day of the Manawatu meeting to-day. Red Sun ran brilliantly into second place from the rear jbf the field, tout his rider could not pull him up after passing the post and he continued for another round. At the end of this an attempt by the clerk of the course to stop him failed. The horses bumped together and Red Sun nearly fell. In the meantime, the rider, G. Tattersall, had returned to the enclosure, and when Red Sun eventually arrived he weighed In all correct.

In all Red Sun galloped the best part of four miles. The clerk of the course had to change his mount.
