TROTTING.

AUCKLAND MEETING.

FANCIES FOR ROYAL CUP. THE PROSPECTS REVIEWED. The summer meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club will open at Alexandra Park, Epsom, to-morrow. The ■following are the fields with a review of the prospects by ‘ Padlock ”

Autumn Lu is nicely placed on the limit and Waikato Prince, although slightly out of his class, Is not without prospects. Mountain Sun has recent good form to commend him although Win ILuon will have to ho taken on trust as he will be making a re-appearance • after a lengthy retirement. Carl came from Australia with a good reputation but has failed to live up to it in New Zealand. Guy O’ Mine is a promising trotter who will need to Be considered, and Manna’s Son, one of Auckland’s best at the present time in the class, should be in the firing line at the end. Ganton is favourably placed to give of his best and may prove the hardest to dispose of. Kohewah, has no recent performances to'commend her claims to consideration" but comes from the south with good credentials. The backmarker, Wahnooka, showed distinct promise last season and will need only to reproduce his best to keep the others up to it in a difficult race inwhich the favourites are likely to be: GANTON GUY O’ MINE MANNA’S SON

Aerial Beil has yet to break his maiden status. Aircraft is a possibility and Great Chum is not without prospects. Home Brew will need to improve on recent efforts to make much impression. Kewpie’s Crest is enga'ged in the Derby. Nellota does not appeal although Play Lady is a useful sort likely to go a solid race. Rare Rey Is a good sort and may he one of the hardest to dispose of. Rongo Mai has good credentials. Star Pronto may find the last little bit troublesome. Beiterwln performed well at Te Aroha and should not fail to give a solid account of himself. Dillbn Bond, also, -showed out at the Te Aroha gathering and will have good condition on his side. Gold Dredge Is a likely Improver and Transworthy must enter calculations off 24 yards. He has not had the best of luck in recent outings'. Silver Watch, one of the most promising maiden pacers we have had for some time, Should keep the others to it off the back mark. The issue reads very open at this stage, but a trio who will not be neglected on the machine may be: —■

They are a good lot. Colonial Boy Is entered for the concluding event and as he will be better suited by the shorter distance he will probably be missing from this event. Francis Lincoln holds a strong hand and the Te Aroha running of the Hamilton representative suggests excellent chances for Coclcbill’s charge. Sure, a Southern entry, has winning form to commend him and reads as one of the likeliest'to successfully oppose Tempest, who, despite the fact that he is on 60 yards Dehind, will take considerable beating. Wee Machine has speed enough, but. his Inclination to tangle in his races will cost him support. Nimbus ran pleasingly at Te Aroha and is a decided prospect as also is Realty, who Is coming back to form. Willie Derby is set a ditllcult task off 00 yards. When the final figures arc hoisted there should be good support for: — TEMPEST SURE FRANCIS LINCOLN

It is one of the finest fields that has contested the Cup In recent years. Auto Machine, Kewplc’s Guy and Kewpie’s Triumph should be held safe by Worthy Light, who is one of Auckland's best pacers at the present time. Auburn Lad appeals over lhe majority and the quality of his track preparation points strongly to his prospects. Blue Mountain may not he ready, hut H right on the day will have to enter calculations. Glenrossie, who ran a good race in Hie New Zealand Clip, must also he considered, while the Hamilton-owned and trained impromptu, who carl always he depended upon to pace an honest race, is by no means out of it. Jewel Pointer will lack nothing on the score of physical illness and may surprise. All eyes, of course, will he centred on I he showing of Indianapolis, who was an early favourite for the big two-mile event. He is right at- ids best and he will be a pronounced favourite. Lindbergh is a good sort and will need to bo treated with every respect. Hoi L'Or will he making Id's llrst appearance at Epsom and despite the fact that he is on 4 8 yards behind lie should keep some of the front market's tip to il over llte latter stages. Harold Logan, lite idol > 0 f the New Zealand public, lias a solid

handicap to make up, but he will be there at the finish In a great raoe in which the summing up should be: INDIANAPOLIS AUBURN LAD BLUE MOUNTAIN

Bingen Chief 'demonstrated that he ■was coming right back to form by his showing at Te Aroha and as he wi be improved by his racing there, i should give a good account of himself to-morrow. Gumdigger does n appeal as much as Gaza, who will he suited by the distance. Smoke Scieen is an erratic customer, but if he paces correctly he should be in the picture over the deciding stages. Mocast is a possibility and Bracken, who has been hitting out well at Addington, will need to be treated with every respect. Glandore is getting on in years and liohoro may find the class a little beyond his capabilities. Donum is making a reappearance after a lengthy spell ana may be in need of a race. Manco will keep the others up to it. The final summing up may favour the chances of:— BINGEN CHIEF BRACKEN j SMOKE SCREEN

It is a disappointing field. Dari McKinney lias not raced for some time and Moko Girl’s recent efforts have not been impressive. Zanzibar has been an absentee from the active list for some time and may feel the lack of racing. Parrish Belle would appeal more over a mile and a-half distance and Moko Bells will be the betlei’ for a race. The pick of the field is undoubtedly Nell/Volo and she will be at short odds on the machine. There is not much to choose from and the public will probably prefer the credentials of: — NELL VOLO i PARRISH BELLE

Blondie, one of G. S. Donald’s team, has made good progress, and will strip in splendid condition for to-morrow. Fisher lias done little recently although Kewpie’s Bond is a distinct possibility. Peter Junior won in his last start and a reproduction of that running would give him an excellent chance. Prince Eta-.vah does not appeal. Subsidy isa Southern entry and has the credentials to ensure a good following in the betting lists. Stiver Watch is previously engaged* and as he would be giving away time if started here the probability is that he will start earlier in the programme. King’s Warrior showed promise last season. Red Hope is erratic and War Girl behaved badly at Te Aroha. Compass is a good pacer and should account for more than beat him in a good betting race in which the main fancies may include:—

The sprint has drawn a fine field. Chancellor will he one of the hardest to dispose of and Free Logan will not be without support. Dan Dfreet and Herod have done no racing recently and may not appeal on that account. Fit and well on Hie day, Homeward will have to be reckoned with. Pukemiro is previously engaged. Smooger is a strong possibility and Jackie Thorpe, who won convincingly at Te Aroha, must enter the final summing up. Travis, Colonial Boy and Arabond are prospects and Great Parrish is by no means out of.it. Tempest is engaged earlier in the day but if started here should be in the firing line over the deciding stages. First Flight is set a difficult proposition off 48 yards behind. In an Interesting race the favourites are likely to be: — CHANCELLOR • COLONIAL BOY TEMPEST
