BREAKING-UP CEREMONY.

TATUANUI SCHOOL. A prizegiving ceremony wm held at Tatuanui, when the chairman or the School Committee, Mr N. Dey, presented hooks to all the Standard Six pupils. _ The following received special prizes and certificates: —Mr L. Echlln’s prizes: Kav Sing (best home garden), Owen Wratt (sewing), Enid Hall (dux of the school) and Joyce Scott (first in proficiency). Work prize (donated by the School Committee): Sylvia Peterson. Nature study (donated by the -headmaster): Jean Gyde and James Stockbridgc. Proficiency and competency: Rona Baker, Edn'a Baker, Enid Hall, Sylvia Peterson, Joyce Scott, Gwen Wratt, Fred Cornwall, Ernest Stewart, Kay Sing, Dudley Stewart and Sydney Ewing. The headmaster, Mr C. E. Jenkins, received a presentation or a brass howl, which was made on behalf or the Standard Six girls by Ilona Baker, the school captain. TE PUNINGA SCHOOL. The Te Puninga Hall was filled when the school breaking-up function, In the storm of a visit from Santa Cla-us, was held. Items by the children were followed by a dance. The following items were given by the children: —Selections on the mandolinguitar by Eileen Welch; recitations, Neil Forsyth, Phyllis Murphy and Brian Murphy; dialogue, “Hen and Chickens,” Thelma Old, Peter Roach, Elaine Boston, Joan Hines, Eileen Murphy and Fay Walsh; a ■dialogue, “Dr. Dolittle.” Ernest Walsh, Frank Sklfilington and Kathleen Brown; a dialogue, “ Katie’s Fairy,” Frank Skllllngtort, Trevor Wright, Kathleen Brown, ZeZlma Old, Phyllis Conning and Peter Roach. Special prizes were presented as follows:—General improvement in written work (donated by Mr L. Echlln, of Morrlnsvllle), Owen Henry, Betty Welch, Cecil Enniorr and Frank Murphy. Tennis tournament (donated by Mrs C. 11. Murphy), Kyle and Lyndsay Watson. i*est kept Cair Club notebook, Ray Wilson; headmaster’s prize for oral expression, Brian Murphy. Proficiency certificates: Phyllis Murphy, Olive Wright and Evan Phillips. After slipper had been' partaken of, dancing was held, the music being supplied by Messrs -, S. -Schofield, J. Marshall and W. Conning. a KEREONE SCHOOL. At the Kcreone School, certificates won at the recent proficiency examinations were presented 10 Audrey Arnold, Edgar Cunningham, Albert Days, Percy Mortenscn, Reginald Shelton and Arthur Trotter.
