SUNDAY SPORT.

I i j j (To the Editor.) j sir, —The Te Awamulu- Tennis Club 1 has fallen into, tune and decided by an overwhelming majority in favour ot , Sunday tennis. It was pointed out j that all other games are recognised, so why not tennis?. Why not, indeed We are getting a rational Sunday at last, and it is futile for the non-con-formist conscience to kick. Sunday has ! long been the bulwark of the Church, ! but inroads are now being made upon I it, and there is every chance of it bej corning even as other days in the not distant future. The proviso that I organised contests shall not be in- | dulged in is but a pretence; it will | soon be relegated lo the scrap heap, and we shall have race meetings and 1 all otheriforms of sport freely indulged in. Why not? Some old-fashioned folk no doubt would grieve at the development, but a little emotional senliment must not be permitted to sprag the wheels of progress. It lias long bound us. “Let us burst it-s bonds asunder and cast its cords from us.” —1 am, etc., ZUMITE. Hamilton, December 22, 1934.
