Twelve deaths, the result of aeroplane accidents, marred the Christmas festivities. A Floyd De Long machine disappeared in the rugged country between Elko (Nevada) and Mountain City. Aboard were three children who had visited Elko to participate in the funeral of a school chum. Rescue planes found all dead where the plane had crashed on a hillside in snowclad country. Mr Russel Riggs, veteran air mail pilot," crashed on a mountainside during a snowstorm in the Tennessee mountains.

'Hope is abandoned for the seven occupants of another aeroplane which fell into a gulf in California between Mazatlan and La Paz. The dead include Dr. Spacho, the engineer for the construction of the great ocean pier at La Paz.
