MESSAGE TO EMPIRE
THE KING TO BROADCAST. EARLY ON BOXING DAY. His .Majesty the King "'ill broadcast a message to his- subjects on Christmas Day at the conclusion of a special programme from all parts of the Empire. The programme will bo heard in New Zealand between 1.:>5 a.m. and tt.lo a.m. oil Boxing Hay and will lie re-broadcast by the four national stations in Now Zealand. ,
Many listeners will hear the programme direct on short-wave. Probably the best stations for New Zealand reception will tie GSB, Davcnlry, and the old station at Chelmsford, operating on the wavelength of OSD. An electrical transcription of Hie programme will be transmitted for reception in. Now Zealand, commencing at. !>.20 p.m. on Boxing Day. This performance also will be rebroadeast by the Dominion YA stations.
The' programme will be. entitled "Empire Exchange,” and ils aim is to give listeners throughout the Empire a vivid impression of the vast diversity of interests of their fellow-citi-zens in Hie Empire. The King’s message, which will be broadeasl with his >peeia! microphone installed at Sandringham, will commence at d a.in. and will occupy about 10 minutes.
