EUROPEAN PROBLEMS.
SIR JOHN SIMON IN PARIS. CONFERENCE WITH MINISTERS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright PARIS, Dec. 22. The British Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, who is on his way to the Riviera for a holiday, lunched to-day with The French Prime Minister, M. Flandin, and the Foreign Minister, M. LavalAccording to a communique the ■three Ministers had a general discussion on European affairs. It is believed that Sir John urged the necessity of a compromise in regard to Germany’s rearmament which would satisfy her national pride and enable her to return to 'the League of Nations.
It Is recalled that, last Christmas Sir John halted In Paris on a similar errand. The various problems in the meanwhile have not been altered materially, but M. Laval now is sympathetic, and M- Flandin’s Government is making efforts to bring about a FrancoGerman agreement more earnestly than any French Government for live years,
