SPECTACULAR FIRE. OUTBREAK AT FRANKTON. ENGINE-SHEDS GUTTED. One of the most spectacular Area ever seen in Hamilton was witnessed at Frankton to-day, when the enginesheds at the Frankton Railway Station were practically gutted. At the time of the outbreak, which, it is thought, was caused by a spark, there were 6«,ven engines in the sheds. Despite the flames and the heavy smoke, the yardmen coupled up the engines and all were towed out into the siding. The Are had a very strong hold when the Hamilton brigade arrived, Z running out neariy zoo yards of hose, the brigade eventually got the Are under control. The dense clouds of smoke and flamee could be seen from many parts of the town. The sheds, one of which WO.& new were situated at the southern end of the yard and it i* bought they, are a total loss. Nobody was injured, drowning fatality. ACCIDENT AT LAKE. BODY RECOVERED. Robert Burnell, two-years’-old son of Mr and Mrs Robert Burnell, of Frankton, was drowned at the Lake this afternoon. The child was playing in the water near the foreshore with throe other small children belonging to the same family. Apparently the youngster got out of his depth. The body was noticed floating in the water by Mr P. Exelby and Mr D. Tombs. The latter was swimming and he recovered the body in about 3ft. of water. A doctor was summoned and artificial respiration was applied for some time without result. The mother had left the children at the lake while she visited the hospital.
