AEROPLANE FLIGHT.
HAMILTON TO GISBORNE. SPEEDY TRANSPORT. The value of aeroplane transport was evidenced on Saturday, when an elderly lady who had just been discharged from a private hospital in Hamilton chartered an aeroplane and returned to her home in Gisborne In a little over two hours, arriving none the worse for her experience. Chartering the Auckland Aero Club's Puss Moth machine, Mrs tVoodbineJohnson was down to Gisborne by Flight-Lieutenant W. 11. Lett. The machine left. Hukuhia at 10.15 a.m., but over Rotorua the pilot ran into some heavy low clouds and had to turn back and fly down to Napier and thence up to Gisborne. Gisborne was reached at j 2.40 p.m. A heavy storm later prevented FlightLieutenant Lett from returning the same day, but he returned with two passengers on Sunday morning, flying from Gisborne to Hamilton in 1 hour 25 minulcs.
Gisborne is so situated that any other transport from Hamilton would be long, with severe jolts, but the passenger in the cabin monoplane Puss Moth was home in an incredibly short time with no ill-effects whatsoever.
