WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
AT WAHAROA. The December meeting was held in the hall and tVere was a good attendance. Mrs Bartleet presided. The motto for the day was: "To disagree is not disagreeable.” The roll-rail for the day was: "Should husbands and wives spend their holidays logoi her?” A competition for a dress to he made bv the member and costing not more than 5s was won by Mrs Stanford, with Mrs Pelrli seeond. and Mesdames Oubis and C. Barker .equal' third. For some days the enmniHlee had been working hard to provide a Christmas treat for the children, and promptly at I! o’clock they were to lie seen marching from the nearby school In the hall. At the door they were met and each given a paper-hat. and (lien rondiirled to t tie siipper-nmm. Tim gay hats and laughing, happy fares made a wonderful speelaele. During Hie afternoon games were played and some children's items were rendered and very murh appreciated. Then pillowed the dism.m I ting of the I’.hrislmas tree., and balloons and lollies seemed the order of the afternoon.
Three cheers for the Institute were called for by .Miss Hill, and if the hearty response meant anything, then the afternoon had been a great success and the committee were well repaid for their efforts on the children’s behalf. _________
