HAMILTON CROQUET CLUB
CHRISTMAS PARTY. The Hamilton Croquet Club’s lawns in Thackeray Street were the scene of a merry gathering on Saturday, when the members of the club were entertained by the two vice-presidents Mcsdames Totman and Ilawken. Ihe afternoon, which was ideal as regards weather, was spent in playing progressive croquet, hidden numbers being used for fhe winners of the different grades. ~ , In the A grade Mrs Dilhcar and Mis Henderson tied for first place, the trophy linaiiy being won by Mrs Duhear " For second place Mrs Webster was the winner. In the B grade Mrs Shepherd was successful in winning the first place, while that of second place was won by Mrs Power. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mcsdames Tolnian and Ilawken, and left nothing to lie. desired. The tables, which were laden with strawbemes and cream and a variety of cakes, were beautifully decorated for the occasion with blue hydrangeas, nasturtiums and sweet peas. Mrs Savage, hon. secretary of the dub. thanked Mrs Totman and Mrs Ilawken. on behalf of the, members, for their kindness in providing such a delight fill afternoon. At Hu' close of play the trophies were presented to the. different winners, the function terminating with good' wishes for the coming season.
