CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL.

BALL AT WAITOA. The Grand Christmas Carnival Ball, which had been organised by the Waitoa Hall Committee was held in the hall on Wednesday evening. The hall funds will benefit to the extent of £2O. The hall had been attractively decorated with multicoloured streamers, interspersed with balloons and coloured lanterns, suspended from the ceiling, the walls and stage were adorned with greenery, while the elaborate spot-lighting system added to the effects. Excellent music was supplied by Epi Shalfoon’s Melody Boys from Rotorua, while extras were played by Miss R. George. | The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mrs M. Maclean and Mr L. W. Phillips while the winners of the Lucky Spot Waltz were 'Mr and Mrs S. M. Hyde. A very dainty and delicious supper was served by the ladies’ oommlttee, comprising Mesdames A. W. Johnson, A. J. Luxton, J. 11. Lynch, M. Maclean, W. Vercoe, S. M. Hyde, W. Wood, and 11. Blomfleld. The duties of M.C’s. were efficiently carried out by Messrs S. Bigwood, J. L. Gallagher and D. M. Fraser.
