MR CARO’S GENEROSITY. GIFTS FOR CHILDREN. HOSPITAL & ORPHANAGE VISITED Received with cheers, smiles and well-wishes “Father Christmas,” sponsored by 11. D. Caro’s Great Bargain Stores, brought happiness yesterday to many children in the Sunshine Ward, Waikato Hospital, and the Salvation Army Orphanage “The Nest,” and the Old Men’s Home, Waikato Hospital. With two cars, decorated with flags and balloons, the party, unobtrusively, set out for the Waikato Hospital, Father Christmas occupying the first car, while the generous donor followed in the second vehicle. The children in the Sunshine Ward were highly excited when thHr beloved “Father Christmas” arrived and there were many cheery smiles and greetings as he passed among fhe beds distributing presents and balloons. Parcels for each inmate had been prepared with the names of the recipients attached, thus ensuring that each child received a suitable gift. Forgetting their ails and illnesses the children did not take long to examine their parcels and the party left a very happy and consented ward of children. The next stop was at the Old Men s Home, where again the numerous parcels of tobacco and pipes and other suitable gifts were distributed to the inmates. Here again were many smiling faces when “Father Christinas” . left to continue his rounds. . The party was very enthusiastically received at “The Nest," where the children immediately flocked around the distributors of good cheer. After the balloons and parcels had been presented to the delighted, children, the recipients expressed their appreciation by many cheers for “Father Christmas,” and Mr Caro. It was a very happy bunch of dhlldren thait the party left at “The'Nest, and Mr Caro must have been well repaid for his generosity by seeing the happiness he had brought to the children and the old men. Mr Caro has, for many years, sponsored Father Christmas on this round and on every occasion he has brought a great deal of happiness to many unfortunate children alt a time when such happiness is most appreciated.
