HAILBTONES LIKE GOLF BALLS. FRUIT CROPS RUINED. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright SYDNEY, Deo. 19. The coastal areas of New South Wales are experiencing stormy and unsettled weather. 'There was a series of thunderstorms In the metropolitan area to-day and lightning at Ryde and Elizabeth Bay. '. Extensive damage was done by hailstones at Roseville, Chatswood and Hornsby, where electrlo trains were disorganised. Reports from the northern suburbs tell of widespread damage to house property by hailstones as large as golf halls breaking tiles- on roofs, piercing iron sheds, smashing windows and stripping orchards in the Carlingfofd district, where, many thousands of cases of ripening stone fruit have been lost, almost ruining small growers. Hail was piled high against fences and iu gardens. '
