SOUTH AUCKLAND CENTRE NATIONAL FINANCES. '! ' (Special to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Thursday. .*• meeting- or the executive of the South Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming: Association was held in Cambrldg-e last nlg-ht. Delegates were present from twelve clubs, over which the president, Mr \V. Wilkinson, presided. ■The Cambridge • Club applied for permission for Mr W. Stuart, the bath custodian, to be a member or the club’s committee. The secretary reported that the council was considering the application to-morrow. A long discussion took place on the scheme brought'forward by the treasurer or '.the New Zealand Council for the reorganisation of. the finances of the association. The treasurer suggested the transfer or £4OO from the accumulated runds to ;the educational Tuna. The runds affected would be. the . overseas rund £154, the secretarial establishment fund £l3O, and the accumulated fund £22of -The centre opposed the scheme at present and recommended that it should be considered at the next conference or centres.

The Ohfnemutu ''Club suggested that New Zealand swimming championships should be held for Maoris. It was stated that there were Maori championships In other sports. The meeting supported the Idea and recommended the swimming council to admit 1 the, Maori championships and to hold the first meeting at Rotorua. The Matamata Club suggested that a levy should be. made or sixpense on each senior swimmer, In order to Torm a rund for the purpose of assisting Swimmers to participate In the New Zealand, championships. The meeting decided to make? a Jew or £1 Is p'er chlb for this season, and in ruture to levy Gd each senior swimmer annually. The resignation or the Whitiora Club was received. The Rotorua Club wrote suggesting that the centre should assist them to secure a visit to Rotorua from the French swimmers, who were expected to' visit New Zealand arter the Centenary meeting at Melbourne. The meeting agreed to make efforts to secure vistts from overseas swimmers to clubs in the Centre. At a meeting last evoning the executive or -the South Auckland -Swimming Centre decided to enter a team in the-New Zealand.; Flying Squadron 'championship. It wilt be selected' arter an elimination test has -been held at Rotorua, swimmers rrom the Rotorua ,and Ohinemutu clubs competing. Several members expressed the hope that a wholly Maori team would be chosen. . The secretary, Mr R. S : . Entwlstle, was 1 - deputed-.'to - attend the test as the centre’s representative and umpire. The Rotorua, and Ohinemutu clubs said they* werb prepared to pay the expenses of their - own men at the championships, an offer that was appreciated by the centre executive. Messrs' H. Burch,. F. Ladd and J. Salisbury- were selected to represent tbe centre at the diving championships. All are members or the Y.M.C.A. Club and the club Is to pay their expenses. Mr W. S. Henderson or Rotorua was appointed the manager of the team and Messrs, C. L. Cato and R. S. Entwlstle were appointed, the delegates to the annual conference or .centres. The selected members of the Flying Squadron team will be permitted to com-pete-In any other events ror which they were, eligible at the championships.
