LOCAL BODIES’ ALLOCATION. SMALLER BOROUGH'S PROTEST. The question of the allocation of petrol taxation among borough councils was the subject of a communication from tiie llawdra Borough Council which came before Liio Hamilton | Borough Council last evening. Tiie llawcra Council pointed out that under the existing Motor Spirits Taxation Act 8 per cent. of Hie net petrol tax should be apportioned among boroughs with a population of 0000 or over, it was contended that this was unfair Lo Hie .smaller boroughs with populations below 0000, and the Hawera Council forwarded a remit asking that Hie tax should he distributed among all boroughs instead of only those with a minimum population of OOitO.
