FIGHT AGAINBT SCANDAL. CLAIM TOR £50,000. Mary Piokford is faoed with a fight to prevent her name being blaokened by scandal, says the 'New York correspondent of Sydney Sun. Judge Patterson has reserved his decision on a motion by Mary Pickford’s lawyer, who seeks to prohibit Edward Hemmer, her manager for 13 years, from asking scandalous questions in a suit for £50,000 damages for breaoh of contract. Hemmer alleges that he violently objected to Mary’s payment to Owen Moore preceding the divorce. He makes a series of allegations concerning a friendship in 1919 between Mary Piokford and Douglas Fairbanks while she was still Owen Moore’s wife. .
