GAY GARDENS.

It’s colour time in gardens For ( the Summer Child is here Smiling on the flowers, Keeping the blue skies clear. And all the blossoms love him And bloom with colours fine, For him the birds are singing, For him the sunbeams shine. THINGS I SEE This week there are hollyhocks nodding against a cream wall In all the glory of their summer frocks. They are red and pale pink and oream, and they look so old fashioned and demure. * <*.* * 1,1 , * The hvdrangeas are a picture now. Peter was In such a lovely garden of them the other day. There were blossoms -of all colours, pinks, mauves, dark blues, light blues, and the real hydrangea blue. It was just like a little bit of sky floated down to earth. * * * * * * ; Aren't the sweet peas lovely? Peter has his vases full of 'them, ' and there are such lots of colours among the hunch he was sent. * * * * * ” Along the front of one house Peter passes are great- flaunting geraniums -of bright crimson, and they look so vivid among their cool green leaves. They are easy to grow, too. They would be splendid for some of you to try Jn your very own gardens. ;rtf THE BELLRINGERS In the cool of the evening, the little grey woman stole Into her garden. She had heard the chiming of the fairy bells. More than flowers they were to her, those mauve and pink blossoms on their slender stems. As she listened to their music s'he could .see the elfin beilringers pulling,the gossamer ropes which bad been woven by the Spider folk. The Heralds of the Summer, ringing in sunny days and long 000 l evenings when the stars gleam brightly In a dark blue,sky and there is Maglo abroad. \ She was wise that little old woman, for she had eyes to see, and ears to hear the beauty of little things in the great wonder of a garden.
