CAMBRIDGE DISTRICT.

POWER BOARD MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Electric Power Board was held In the boaid's offices whan there were present Messrs M. Wells, chairman, C. -N. Priestley, F. Lye, M.P., J. H. Brock, J. G. Fisher and J. T. Entwlsle. The secretary, Mr F. Oliver, and the engineer, Mr H. C. Oaten were In attendance. •The engineer reported that total consumers numbered 1514, an Increase of 6 Tor the period. The Inspector made 13 tests and inspections of new work. The heavy 7/14 secondary extending from the borough along Hamilton Road was extended to Include a "number of supplies. The treasurer reported that the revenue up to November 30 showed an Increase of £5 60 over the figures Tor the same period last year. The position Is very satisfactory considering the substantial reductions In charges made at the beginning or the year. The loan conversion scheme is practically llnalised and the debentures are now being printed. The total cost of the conversion is approximately £6O. The chairman reported that the secretary had done splendid work in connection with the loan conversion, and his work deserved some recompense. The matter was left to the stair committee. Accounts amounting to £SS9 Is 7d were passed ror payment. SCHOOL BREAK-UP FUNCTION. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The Cambridge primary school’s breakup party was held on Friday afternoon, when there was a lair attendance of parents present. There was a short concert when items were givpn bv Margaret Mr.Keown, Wallace humble. Ruth Dagg, Joy Worms and the hirants’ choir and Mr. Paul’s choir sang three choruses. Parents were permitted to inspect the classrooms and the work of the pupils on display. The arts and crafts exhibits consisted' or a very interesting, range of articles. Mr S. N. Ziman, the chairman or the school committee, presented the special awards earned during the year. On behalf or the citizens or Cambridge, lie -referred to the great debt owing to the stair tills year. Tile Government had reduced the expenditure on education and tills had meant an added burden to the teachers. The chairman extended Ills best wishes to the pupils who were leaving school.
