TE AWAMUTU WORK. . , PAHU LOOKS WELL. LUCIDUS SPRINTS NICELY. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) TE AWAMUTU, Friday. All fast work was done on the inner plough at Te Awamutu this morning. The first to work w'as Pahu who traversed half-a-mile in 51s. He looks in nice condition although he has never raced this way round for some time. Pahu’s prospects are; good for tomorrow. Lucidus w'as allotted a five-furlong task on the same track, finishing very strongly to take 1.2, the last' halfmile being covered in 495. ' The only three schooling were Ver•den (Mcßae), Cailamart (C. Thompson), and Billy Boy (F. Thompson) who were sent over three flights. They finished in the order named.

Verden did not impress and it was evident that the right-hand track was ’not to his liking. Both Billy Boy and Callamart gave safe displays.

t TRENTHAM TRAINING. THIS MORNING’S WORK. • / • i’ •• HORSES NOT AFTER TIME. . GAY MARIGOLD LOOKING WELL. EXERCISE FOR SOLARIUM. {By Telegrapti.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Many more visitors to participate at the Wellington Royal Welcome meeting at Trentham to-morrow were on the scene this morning but apparently they had nearly all left their home tracks with their perparations completed as from ’ a galloping point of view this morning’s work was completely devoid of interest. The weather was arrayed in its most summery garb and, conditions generally could not have been more ideal.

Most of the 'fast work took place on the plough. Cuddle drew' away from Slippery over the final furlong, of a five furlong trial, beating her mate by a good length in 1.3. The last half-mile occupied 49 3-ss.

A Picture of Fitness.

Spiral was going better than Canopy at the end of five furlongs run in 1.2 3-5, the last half taking 49 2-ss. Pomp ran half-a-mile in 49 3-ss.

Gay Marigold, who looks a picture of fitness, ran six furlongs alone in 1.15, the last half-mile taking ’49s. She was going very strongly at the finish.

Sporting Blood and Diatomous, after a slow beginning, went six furlongs in 1-17, covering the last halfmile 'in 50s with the three-year-old, going early, half a length in front at the post. Hunting Go beat Miladi by half a length over six furlongs in 1.16 1-5, the last half-mile taking 50 3-ss. iPaim ran live fullongs alone in 1.2 2-3, the last half-mile taking 495.

Other Horses Worked.

Blue Boy did six furlongs in 1.16 3-ss, the final four furlongs taking 51 2-ss. ~ ; - ilvorero beat Revision by half-a-length over six furlongs, in 1.17 3-5, Ihe last half-mile being covered in 51 3-ss.

Among other horses out doing exercise or pacing were: Grand, Jury, Cadland, King Thomond, Limulus, Solarium, Caliente, Black Man, Hunting Lodge, Aussie Ra, Courtega, Round Score and Cardinal Moon.

Several two-year-olds took advantage of the opportunity to come down from the half-mile barrier on tire course proper but the trees that have grown along the inner of this rail have now made timing impossible from tbjs mark. Among those so to work were Severe (going better) and Entail, Round Up and Hunting Scene, Fairfax (showing, line speed) and Pakanui and Silver Coat.
