SONG OF THE TANIWHARAU

AN ENTHUSING CHORUS

For the first time, the school song of the Hamilton Technical College was chorused yesterday afternoon. Composed by two members of the staff, Miss Margaret Roe, music mistress, and -Miss E. M. Madeley, English mistress, the song was found to possess an exhilarating melody, with most appropriate xv'orils, and it was enthusiastically applauded by the gathering of past-pupils, parents and friends present for the breaking-up ceremony. The words run as follows:

In tiie playing: Helds, or the g-ame or lire. ’.Midst the rush and scramble and tumble. We’ll give or our best in peace or strife, lie our lot either proud or humble.

Chorus: Taiiiwlmrau, Taniwharau, Tani wliarau,

With our fares set for the goal In sight, Though opponents anil fortunes alter, We'll follow tiie course, once convinced we're right, Willi courage iliat shall not Taller. Mid the school (lull teaches us one and ail, To win or lose with good grace. To work unci to live shall retain our love, Till death himself ends our race.
