Dr Alfred Cox, medical secretary of the British .Medical Association since 1912, at the Institute of Hygiene foreshadowed a happier, because a healthier world. He declared the doctors of the future would teach what normal health is and how to attain it. In London in the 17th. and 18th. centuries 50 per 1000 of the population died annually; now the figure is 12 per 1000; whereas a baby in IS3B expected to reach the age of 41, the expectation now was 60 years. The United States to-day spent £l2 000,000 on health services but’ £21,500,000 on beauty preparations. Probably British expenditure was similar yet siokness cosi Britain £500,000,000 per annum.
