DAIRY STOCK SALE. AT WESTFIELD. There was an easing in demand, especially for dairy cattle, at the weekly store and dairy stock sale yesterday. An average yarding of store cattle was offered and values remained on a par with recent rates. Dairy cattle were forward in larger numbers than in previous weeks and there was a slight fall on the realisations of last week. The demand was fairly keen for 'quality stock, but there was a distinct slackening when average quality stock was offered and a definite limitation on offers. A few Jersey and Shorthorn cows and heifers realised up to £4 ss, which was the top price for the day. There was a large yarding of herd bulls, mostly aged, and they sold at prices on a par with recent values. The prices ruling were as follows: Store 'Cattle.—Young cows, good condition, from £2 to £3; good quality, less condition, 30s to 37s 6d; others, up to 255; boner and aged cows, wo to 255; boner bulls, to 355; breeding bulls, Jersey, up to £3 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, good quality, up to £2; others, to 255. Dairy Cattle.—'Jersey cows, good quality,- close to profit, from '£3 5s to £3 I'7s 6d; good quality, more backward, from £2 to £3; backward and inferior, up to 30s; Jersey heifers, good quality, close ,to profit, >up to £4 ss;- good quality fair condition, to £3 os; others, up to 355; Shorthorn cows, in milk, good quality, up to £a, Shorthorn heifers, close to profit, up 16 £4 ss; other cows, In milk, up to £3 10s. /

TE AWAMUTU SALE, The ‘Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reporta good yarding of fat and store cattle at Te Awamutu on Thursday, values being very firm on fat cattle, whilst store and boner cows sold to schedule. A pen of choice well grown yearling Shorthorn steers met with spirited competition, and realised £3 18s. Sheep: A good yarding', comprising mostly fat ewes and hoggets. This section showed a marked improvement resulting In a total clearance at Increased prices since our previous report. Pigs: A heavy yarding of fat pigs came forward, and as there was a good attendance-of buyers a successful sale resulted. There were quite a few good quality pens of baconers yarded, and values were right up to those ruling at central yards. Porkers also sold at prices in many cases in advance of late quotations. A full yarding of stores met a steady market at late quotations. We quote:— Cattle. —Light fat Polled Angus steers, £6 16s; fat cows, best, £4 12s to £5 2s; medium, £3 10s to £4 7s; light fat Jersey cows, £2 to £3; yearling Shorthorn steers, £3 18s; store cows at current rates. Sheep.—Fat shorn ewes, best, 14s 9d; medium, 12s 5d to 13s 6d; fat woolly hoggets, 25s 6d to 263; fat shorn hoggets, 21s 7d to 21s 9d; fat and forward lambs, 17s lid to 19s. 'Pigs.—‘Heavy baconers, £3 8s to £3 12s; medium, £3 2s to £3 7s; light, £2 16s to £3 Is; heavy porkers, £2 7s to £2 11s; medium, £1 19s to £2 3s; light, £1 12s to £i 17s; unfinished, £1 9s to £1 10s; good stores, £1 6s to £1 12s 6d; smaller,. £1 3s to £1 ss; slips, 18s to £1 2s; weaners, 12s to 16s; smaller, 8s Gd to 10s. ADDINGTON MARKET. The drop in the export .schedule for lambs and wethers was the chief Item of interest at the Addington market. Lambs sold slightly easier, but had <* steady sale. sold well up to last week, but fat ewes were weaker by Is to Is 6d- The beef market was heavily over-supplied and prices fell 15s. There was a good demand for store wethers. * Store Sheep.—The entry consisted mainly of wethers. There was a steady sale at late rates. Young wethers in carrying condition were keenly bought. Good 4-tooth wethers 18s to 18s iOd, medium 2-tooth halfbred 15s 6d to 16s lOd, ordinary 145.t0 15s 3d, backward 12s to 13s 9d. Fat Lambs.—There was a yarding of 1200. The sale was mainly in the hands of the butchers, the new schedule being in operation. Values occasionally went up to 7sd per lb. The quality was fair. Extra prime heavy lambs to 26s 7d, prime heavy 22s to 24s lOd, ordinary 19s Gd to 2is Gd, light 16s to 19s. Fat Sheep.—The entry totalled 5500. The quality was good, although a number of lines showed signs of the hot spell. Wethers sold particularly well throughout, and did not appear to suffer the drop of 3-16 d in the export schedule, values being unchanged. Ewes were not so lceenlyibousht, prices being'down by Is to Is Gd- Extra prime heavy wethers to 26s Id, prime heavy 23s to 24s Gd, medium weight 2ls to 22s Gd, ordinary 19s to 21s Gd, light to IBs Gd, extra prime heavy ewes to 21s lOd, prime 16s to 17s Gd, ordinary 14s to lGs Gd, light to 13s. Fat Cattle. —The yarding of 490 bead was far too many for the market during the hot weather and prices dropped 15s all round. Secondary and cow beef was very hard to sell. Best beef made 22s Gd to 24s per 1001 b, good 19s to 225, heavy 17s to 19s, medium 14s to 16s Gd, light down to 10s. Extra prime heavy steers to £lO 17s Gd, prime heavy £8 15s to £lO, medium weight £7 19s to £9 10s, ordinary £4 lo £6, light to £3 las, extra prime heifers to £6 12s Gd, prime £ t is to £6, medium £2 10s lo £4, light io £2 ss, extra prime cows lo £7, prime £5 10s, medium £2 to £3 ss, light to £t 15s. Venters. —There was a heavy entry but only the best met with any compelilion. Top price was £4 is. Store Cal Ho.—A small entry met with mile competition from graziers and a dull sale resulted. Fat Pigs.—A large entry or pork and bacon again came forward, and for suitable sorts I here was keen export competition. The offering contained a fair proportion of light and unfinished. Prices were well up lo recent values. Choppers 30s lo £2 10s. porkers 31s Gd lo 36s Gd. heavy 38s Gd lo 43s Gd. average price per lb old lo 5Jd; baconers 48s Gd io 52s Gil, heavy 53s Gd lo 59s Gd. extra I" £3 Gs Gii; average price per lb 3d to opt.
