PAGEANT REVIEWED.

FIXTURE AT RUKUHIA. '“VERY SATISFACTORY POSITION.’’ a “Though perhaps not quite so flattering as last year, the position revealed by 'the financial figures is very satisfactory,” commented the president, Mr W. J. King, at a meeting of the South Auckland Motor and Air Carnival Association last evening, when a statement of accounts covering the recent pageant at Riikuhia, was presented by the secretary (Mr G. K. Wright). In the course of the reports that were submitted by the various subcommittees it was explained that the attendance had exceeded 4000. The traffic arrangements had been most satisfactory, a total of 1100 motor-, cars being handled efficiently. v In a letter congratulating the association upon the success of the pageant, -the patron, Mr J. A. Steele, on whose property the function wa3 conducted, affirmed his intention to effect considerable improvements to the car track, and a sub-committee, comprising Messrs L. N. Sargent (convenor), E. :R. R.oskruge, A. McLaren, J. D. Todd, C. H. Leighton and G. Thomson, was appointed to meet Mr Steele in an endeavour to carry out his suggestions.

■A vote of thanks was accorded the grounds committee and a donation of three guineas was made to -the funds of the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Mr King congratulated the subcommittees on their efficient and harmonious work, making, particular mention of. the ground sports Innovations which 'had proved such a success. He paid a warm tribute to Flight-Lieutenant W. 11. Lett, for the assistance be had lent the association hut "lie expressed himself-as- disappointed with the interest' shown by the Auckland Aero Club.

Loud’applause followed a tribute; ■that was** paid to Mr King by a vice-j president, Mr A. E. Sandford. Expressing appreciation of the- amount of work that Mr King bad performed in bis capacity of president, Mr Sandford referred to Hie efficient administration of Hie committee, which had been led so capably by the president.
