DOMINION’S EMBARGO. A SUGGESTED CONFERENCE. United Pres? Assn. —Klee. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept. 17. The Federal Minister of Commerce, M t . f, ii. Stewart, announced to-day that a conference is to be held between- the Governments of New Zealand and Australia shortly, probably at Canberra, respecting the embargo on citrus fruits and other matins of mutual interest. Mr Stewart said he expected that the Prime Minister of the Dominion, Mr Forbes, also Messrs Coates and Masters would attend the conference on behalf of New Zealand. Mr Coates, upon being approached on the matter, stated that a conference had been proposed, but no mention had been made that two New Zealand Ministers should participate. Some trade and tariff matters between the two countries needed adjusting and a minister would probably be sent to Australia shortly with a view to reaching an agreement, but a minister could not be spared at present as the session was entering its busiest phase Mr. Forbes staled that the Minister who represented New' Zealand at the forthcoming Centenary celebrations would probably be commissioned to discuss the subject.
