Sir John Cadman, , chairman of directors of the Anglo-Persian Oi Company, lias been in communication with the Government of the State and the Federal Government in regard to the huge deposits of shale in the Blue Mountains at Newnes, near Sydney. The Government, in conjunction with tlie' Federal Government, is anxious to develop tlye shale Industry. Imperial Chemical Industries, Ltd., was approached through the High Commissioner for Australia in London,.but the reply was that it was not prepared lo be associated with, the proposition. Sir John Cadman was approached because it was known that already the Anglo-Persian Oil Company had substantial shale interests in Seolland, and would therefore be well equipped to develop Newnes. Sir John Cadman was to have left England for Australia in August.
The Anglo-Persian Company is associated with the Commonwealth Government in Commonwealth Oil Refineries, Ltd.
