The nominatons for the classic plates to be decided at the Takapuna Jockey Club’s Spring and Summer meetings to be held at Ellerslle, will close with the secretary, Mr R. A. INCREASE IN STAKES.

CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday

The Canterbury Jockey Club to-day decided on an increase of £1125 In stakes for the New Zealand Cup meeting on the amount distributed last year, and no race will be of less value than £2OO. The conditions of the hack races on the programme make them open to horses that at the time of nomination have not won a race to the value of £2OO to the winner, or races of a collective value of £4OO to the winner. DISQUALIFICATIONS CONFIRMED. ENTRY OP STAR LAP. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. The Auckland District Racing Committee last evening confirmed two disqualifications, one for life. The case arose out of the entry of Star Lap for the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty Hunt Club’s meeting at Rotorua In July, by R. B. Mclntyre and M. iQ. L. A. Jensen. On the ground that Mclntyre was ineligible under the Gaming Act and Jensen in registering his interest in tile horse used an as-j sumed name contrary to the Rules of] Racing, the Hunt Club decided that I ■for corrupt practice Mclntyre should | be disqualified for life and Jensen disqualified for 12 months. The District Committee endorsed these disqualifications. Star Lap, although nominated for the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty Hunt Meeting did not accept.
