MR J. M. DE MONTALK. FUNCTION AT FRANKTON. A popular resident of Frankton for some years was farewelled yesterday, in the person of Mr J. M. De Montalk, who is leaving the town this week to take up residence in Dunedin. At a gathering of Frankton business men Mr F. G. Turner, speaking on their behalf, wished Mr De Montalk and his family happiness in their new place of residence, lie expressed the general regret of the Frankton residents at losing such a popular resident and presented Mr De Montalk with a leather suitcase and a travelling rug. Mr De Montalk thanked the gathering for the sentiments expressed and remarked that flic gifts with which he had been presented would remind him of the many pleasant years he had spent in Frankton.

MR H. EARLE FAREWELLED. PRESENTATION BY STAFF. Prior to his departure for Christchurch on transfer to the southern branch of W. 11. Tisdall, Ltd., Mr 11. Earle, manager of the Hamilton branch of the firm, was farewelled by members of the staff. As a small token of appreciation Mr Earle was asked to accept a silver cigarette case, suitably inscribed. Mr C. B. Chalmers, in making the presentation, briefly referred to Mr Earle’s long association with the. firm, and wished him happiness and success in the new sphere o'f his work. It was with the deepest regret that they viewed the severance of a very happy association.

There was a large gathering of friends and representatives of sporting bodies with which Mr Earle was eonneeled to hid him farewell at the Frankton Junction station in the evening.
