TEAM FOR AUCKLAND.

CHALLENGE SHIELD MATCH. QUEST OF WAIKATO. f The first challenge received by the 1 holders, Auckland, for the New Zeai land Challenge Shield will be decided, at Auckland to-morrow when, on the Remucra Ground, the Waikato representative eleven is lo meet the home , team. Described often as the Ran- . furly 'Shield of hockey the challenge ’ trophy has inspired the principal mat- . ches of the season in the Dominion, ’ Wellington being the next major association whose challenge is to be received. Were Waikato to win the shield, Wellington’s challenge would be decided at Hamilton, while all other . trophy games would also be played ; here. There is, therefore, every in- : centive for the Waikato team to give of their best. There seems to be every indication that the match will be an open contest and, if the fast Waikato forwards can maintain the form shown in club games, there should not be much lacking in the way of scoring movements. The challengers’ defence, too, is solid and providing the experienced Auckland inside forwards can be kept out of shooting distance there is a good prospect of success. Auckland do not appear to be putting a team equivalent in strength to past years, into the field, but as there is a fair proportion of younger players, there may be a more than equal capacity not yet known. At the conclusion of the match the teams will he entertained at a dinner at ihc Hotel Auckland. The teams are as follows: Auckland. Goal: M. Waltam (St. Luke’s). Backs: E. Dunning (Rodney), F. Clark (St. Luke’s). Halves: 11. Jones (North Shore), S. Robertson (St. Luke's), T. Clark (St. Luke's). Forwards: F. Chapman (Wesley), C. Floyd (University), E. Watts (Somerville), F.
