Pears: Winter Cole and Nelis, best, 8s to 9s; cooking varieties, 4s to 6s; lemons, first grade, 14s to 10s; second, 8s to 10s; rough, 4s to ss; bananas, ripe, 20s to 22s Gd; green, his to 16s; Island oranges, 10s to 22s Gd, according to count. Values for Vegetables. An over-supply of cabbages has resulted in low prices for this line. A few hot-house tomatoes have arrived, and are selling at prices from Gd to Is per lb, according to quality. The ruling rates are as follows: —Cabbage, 2s to 2s Gd bag, 3s to 4s sack; cauliflowers, 4s to 5s bag, 5s to 7s sack; carrots, 2s Gd to 2s 9d sugar bag, 6d to 10c! dozen bundles; parsnips, 3s to 3s Gd sugar bag, lid to Is Id dozen bundles; beet, lOd to lid doz.; pumpkins, 6s to 7s cwt.; potatoes, 7s to 7s 6a cwt.; onions, 9s Gd to 10s cwt., with an early rise indicated; celery, first grade, Is 4d to Is 8d bundle; second grade, 8d to Is Id; kumeras, 5s to 5s Gd sugar bag; swedes, 2s to 2s Gd sugar bag. Produce and Cereals. A slight seasonable increase in business has been experienced in produce and cereals, although prices have shown little appreciable variation. Wheat is selling at 5s 9d a bushel and maize at 4s 9d, while mixed grain is realising 4s Gd. Pollard lias declined by 5s a ton, and is now commanding 7s Gd per 1001 b, with bran at 7s Gd. The ruling prices for oats is 4s 3d for A Gartons and 4s for 13 Cartons. Chaff is making £7 a ton. Eggs, Butter and Fish. Heavy supplies of eggs are coming forward, and the retail price has fallen to Js Gd a doz.en.
