DEATH OF BUSINESS MAN
AN EXTRAORDINARY HAPPENING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ! CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. At an inquest. regarding the death jpf Hubert John Suckling: (58), n ’we.llIknown business man, who was killed while cycling: in a collision with a truck driven by A. E. Keys on June *2G, the coroner. Mr. Mosley, returned a formal verdict that death was due to the injuries received. He also commented on the evidence regarding the stale of the brakes on the truck. “ When Keys braked the truck he says that it skidded some distance. 12 to 17 feet, and then suddenly tbi' brakes evidently failed to act. It seems an extraordinary position that for six years no such occurrence look place, and when the accident. occurs it is attributed to this. 11 sHains one's credulity. 1 believe that the fact, however, may be so. The police, in tests made, found the brakes Inelllcienl. Ido md propose to say anything more than that."
