RUGBY.

SHABBY TREATMENT. MATCHES WITH ALL BLACKS. NORTH OF ENGLAND COMPLAINS. There is already a complaint about the manner in which matches are being arranged for the New Zealand Rugby team which Is to go to 'Great Britain and Ireland toward the end of next year. The following is taken from the 'Sporting Chronicle and Athletic Yews, which Is published In Manchester:—

“The next team of Rugby Union All Blacks Is not to be in England until 1935-36, but already that part of Its itinerary In which the North of England is directly concerned is known. Again the north is expected to be content with shabby treatment. “ There are to be three matches—a Yorkshire and Cumberland combine in late September, artd amalgamations of Lancashire and Cheshire and of Durham and Northumberland .respectively in early October. “ Are tho various counties going to accept, tliis inadequate programme with tlie same humility shown when Die New South Wales and the South Africans were last here?

“When the last All Blacks were here in 1924, the Northern Counties had 'Separate fixtures. True, none of Hie six won, but they failed in good company, for Die tourists returned with an unbeaten record.

“ For the Waratahs and liic Springboks, the Rugby Union magnates thought fit to combine Die Northern counties into couples, and this they are arranging to do again. Is it not time tho county committees of the north and tho clubs also made a combined prolest against this gratuitous cutting into their independence'? “ if private protests arc ol' no avail then I hope some of tho club representatives will attend the annual meeting of the Rugby Union and express dissatisfaction at the unfairness. “ Our northern representatives are 100 little inclined to show their mettle and let the rest of Die Rugby Union know what North Rugby men think on national matters. A little more energy and outspokenness would he welcomed."

It. is rattier curious that this complaint is made in a year in which Die president of Die Rugby Union ot England is honorary secretary of Die Yorkshire Rugby Union. (r«nunued la next column.)
