WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
NAWTON—ROTOKAURI. The usual monthly meeting of the Nawton—Bolokauri Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday, May 30, i:i (lie Nawton Hall, Mrs Waters presiding. The meeting was opened by members singing the Institute song. After ordinary business was concluded discussion took place on conference remits, it was decided that Mrs Barrelt should be the delegate at the Dominion conference. The roll call, “A Humorous Story,” caused a good rleal of amusement, some very good anecdotes being related. Mrs Soper, of Whatawhala, gave a most interesting and instructive lecture on home nursing, which was greatly appreciated by all present, and for which she was accorded a very hearty vote of I hanks.
Competitions were for the best crochet or knitted hot-water bag cover and a candlestick made from ■cotton reels, both being won by Mrs A. P. t erry. 'I lie motto was “A soft answer lurneth away wrath.”
It was decided that ne.\| month's roll call should be “What I Inked Best at the Waikato Winter Show, and Why.”
Visitors from other institutes were Mrsdamcs Soper and A, Rowe, Whatawhata, and Airs Abblss, Fapakura.
Afternoon tea was .served by Mesdarnes Lory, McLean, Fisher and Overton.
It was decided to hold a “Penny Afternoon” on Wednesday, June 6, to augment the funds, instead of the usual fortnightly sewing bee.
