WINTER FARM SCHOOL

CLAUDELANDS ASSEMBLY. COURSE OPENS ON TUESDAY Regarded as one of the most productive mediums for the propagation of practical farming methods, the annual Waikato Farm School will be officially opened at Claudelands on Tuesday, continuing until June 14. Since its inception three years ago this annual course for young farmers and' herd testing offers has become increasingly .popular, and the fact that this year’s enrolments, numbering 70, are considerably in excess of the 1933 total is a tribute to the useful work the school is performing. The school will he directed by Dr. H. E. Annelt, a well-known personality in agricultural circles, and the students, who come from,all over the North Island, will hear lectures by Dr. Annett and other experts in various phases of farming, such as Messrs 11. M. Peirson (pig recording), D 1 Marshall, T. A. Blake (animal management including common diseases of live stock and the results of investigations into mammitis control and sterility); A. W. Green (shelter) , E. C. Jarrctt (poultry) ; C. E. Cuming, (constitution of animals), and W. 11. Udy (milk). Evening Addresses. Special evening addresses, illustrated by lantern slides, will be given by Mr A. H. Cockayne, Assistant Director-General of Agriculture, Mi Bruce Levy, of the plant research station, Palmerston North: Mr C. M. Hume, Federation Supervisor of herd testing; and Mr E. E. Hale. All evening addresses will be open to the public, farmers and townsfolk being cordially invited. The course will conclude with a grassland'conference on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 13, in which many of the district’s most progressive grassland farmers will take pait. The school will he officially opened on Tuesday morning by the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr J. R. Fow.
