CARNIVAL PAGEANT.

AIR & MOTOR ASSOCIATION FUNCTION FOR HAMILTON. FURTHER ARRANGEMENTS. Judging from the enthusiasm displayed at the executive meeting of the South Auckland Motor and Air Carnival Association last evening, at which Mr W. J. King presided, the initial pageant to be staged at Mr J. Steele’s Aerodrome, Rulcuhia, on Saturday, December 9, should be an outstanding success. Representatives were present from the Auckland Aero Club, the New Zealand Motor Drivers’ Association, and the Hamilton Motor-Cycle Club, the three bodies participating at the function. Mr L. Sargent reported that the grounds committee had everything well In hand, and that the ground was Ideal for the displays. The racing tracks would be open for practice on Thursday evening. Mr E. R. Roskrudge, who is in charge of the traffic control, reported that his arrangements were well forward. Mr A. Dixon’s tender for the installation of a public address system was accepted. The publicity and advertising, in charge of Mr E. H. Quill, was reported to be in hand. Competition for Ladles. The ladies’ balloon bursting competition was attracting a great deal of interest, Mr N. Holden stated, and he added that the balloons would he so placed as to make the competition dependent on skilful driving, as well as speed. It was decided to allocate the following prizes: First, 10/6 and a free flight in an Auckland Aero Club machine; second, 10/6; third, 10/6. The question of whether the local pilot, Mr S. Blackmore, should fly with the parachutist, Mr “ Scotty ” Fraser, was left in the hands of the Auckland Aero Club. Mr J. Steele has presented a handsome silver cup to the association, to be given to the winner of some aerial competition, the names of the winners to be inscribed on the cup each year. Mr L. W. Swan, secretary of the Auckland Aero Club, stated that its programme was too comprehensive and large to allow of a further competition. It was decided to recommend Mr Steele to present the cup this year to the best flying performance of the day, the necessary judges to be provided by the Auckland Aero Club. The Model Aeroplane Club would also be exhibiting and flying its models. It was decided not to obtain a “ Pluvius ” Insurance policy. The question of catering was left to the secretary. It was decided to hold a smoke concert in the evening.
