PUPILS’ RECITAL.

MYRA BOOTH STUDIO. AN ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME. The annual recital by Mrs Myra Booth and the pupils of her studio drew a large audience to the Winter Show Hall last night, and the programme, though , far too long, proved very enjoyable. Some excellent voices ■ were revealed, and the performers gave evidence of careful training. Mrs Myra Booth chose a very attractive group for her contribution, the beauties of her voice and the artistry of her methods being fully revealed in “Goin’ Home” (from Dvorak’s “New World Symphony”), “The Blacksmith” (Brahms), “The Song of the Smuggler’s Lass” (Phillips), and “Ave Maria” (Jarman), the latter with very effective accompaniment by a hidden choir. The choral numbers were particularly well done. The Ladies’ Choir ) sang “Softly Falls the Shades of Evening" (Hatton), “Bees” (Fletcher) and “The Snow” (Elgar) in a manner deserving of the greatest praise, and the mixed voices were heard in “Store Away Your Happy Hours” (Purcell) and “Away With Melanoholy” (Mozart). ';• Miss Marjorio Klnniburgh gave a splendid rendering of- the '‘operatic aria, “Behold Titaula," from “Mignon,” and was associated with Miss Ruby Sutherland in one of the most pleasing items of the evening, “Nocturne” (Chaminade). Clevely, M. Blyth, C. O’Connor, C. ' Jenkins, N.' Hamilton, A. Burton, R. Sutherland and B. Lewis; “Coming Home” (Willeby) and “By the Waters of Minnetonka" (Lieurance), Lorna Clark; “Weathers” (Maurice Bosley) and “If No One Ever Marries Me" (Liza Lehmann), Maud Blyth; “The Vagabond’s Song" (Cundell), Ivor Janies; “Tiptoe” (Carew), Ceridwen Jenkins; “The Swallows" (Cowen) . and .“Your Dog's Come Home Again,” Jack Warrington; “Orpheus With His Lute” (Sullivan), Nesta Hamilton; “On the Road to Mandalay" (Oley Speaks), Fairley H. Vincent; “When the Birds Go North Again" (Willeby), Molly Radford; "Evening Rhapsody" (\Keighley) and “Spring the Piper” (march militaire), (Schubert), Coralie O’Cou- , nor, Ruby Sutherland, Marjorie ICinniburgh; piano trio, Minuetto (Mozart), Beatrice St. Paul, Myra Booth and Cllffe Rotherham; "Summer Rain” (Willeby), Betty Lewis; “Slumber Song" (Schubert) and “Ladybird" . (Schumann), Alma Burton; "Nursery Nonsense,” „ Messrs. Brown,:. .Jame 3, Maglll, Vincent; “0 Lovel From Thy Power (from “Samson and Delilah”; and “Little Miohael John O’Shea” (Sterndale Bennett), Coralie O’Connor; “The Wren" (Liza Lehmann), • Patty Strong; "The Harvesters’ Night Song” (Baynton Power), Iris Sutherland; quartette, “Indian Dawn" (tone poem), (Zamecuiok), Coralie O'Connor, Alma Burton, Maud Blyth, [Betty Lewis; “Courage" (Haydn Wood) and “Serenata" (Toselli), Graham Magill; “0 Lovel" (“Liebestraum"), (Liszt), Ruby Sutherland.

The accompaniments were played very sympathetically by Miss Mavis Jones.

At the 'dose of the recital Miss Nesta Hamilton, on behalf of the pupils, presented Mrs Booth and Miss Jones with gifts. Mrs Booth suitably acknowledged the compliment.
