UNPAID WAGES.
CHARGE AGAINST BAKER. CASE AT MORRINSVILLE. A charge of failing to make> full payment within seven days of wages earned by an employee, H. W. Prenter, from June 1 to July 8, was brought against W. H. Louden, baker, of Morrinsville, by Mr 1. Wilson, Inspector ■of factories, before Mr F. W. Platts, S.M., in the Morriusville Court this morning. Defendant u.d not appear. Mr Wilson stated that Prenter left defendant’s employment on July 8 and was then owed £ls 18s in wages. Louden later paid him £4 10s, leaving ■a balance of £ll Bs. Witness interviewed the defendant on September 20 and was subsequently given an opportunity to pay the wages within 14 days. This the defendant failed to do. Asked by the magistrate whether defendant was in financial difficulties, Mr Wilson said he understood he was. However, when he was a journeyman darning £4 10s a week, he failed to pay his unemployment levy. Defendant was unmarried.
A fine of £4, with 15s costs, was imposed.
