LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budcl, of Balfour M. Irvine and Webster, Ltd., supplies the following observations of the weather: — Barometer. Thursday 30.10 Friday 30.00 Thermometer. Max. min. Wednesday 77.9 53.0 Thursday 82.0 62.0 The barometer reads 30.00 with a falling tendency. Indications are for partly fair and partly overcast weather to-day with higher temperature," winds variable later veering to a northerly direction when unsettled weather may be expected. Mean temperature 71.5 degrees. SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. (By Govt. Meteorologist) The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to < strong south-east winds, decreasing gradually. Weather cloudy to overcast, and cool, with scattered misty rain. Seas rough. General Inference: The depression to the north of New Zealand is now moving away eastward. An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea, and extends over the Dominion. THE RAINFALL. (Recorded at Ruakura.) Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning .OOins Rainfall for previous 24 hours .001ns. Total for December to date, .OOins. Average rainfall for December 3.3 Bins.
