HAMILTON MARKETS. j j FRUIT AND PRODUCE. - r " i 5 PRICES WELL MAINTAINED. THE LATEST QUOTATIONS. Fair supplies of fruit have passed through, the Hamilton markets this week, and prices have been well maintained. Gooseberries are very scaroe, while Sturmer apples are difficult to obtain. The latest prices are as follows — Apples (401 b case), Stunners, 11s to 12s 6d; Rome Beauty, 9s 6d to 11s; Delicious, 10s to 11s 6d. Lemons, 8s to 11s, according to count; New Zealand grape fruit, 14s to 17s 6 case, Australian ‘ oranges, 24s to 27s 6d 'ease; hothouse tomatoes, 5d to 9d lb; gooseberries, 4s to 5s 6d case; strawberries, lid to Is 3d chip; bananas, ripe, 20s to 23s 6d case. Values for Vegetables. Praotlcally all seasonable vegetables are in heavy supply, but mainly on account of the warm weather they are dull of sale. The first cucumbers arrived during the week. The ruling quotations are; —Cucumbers, 8s to 10s case; cabbages, 2s to 4s‘ sack; cauliflowers, 4s to 6s case; lettuce, is to 2s case; rhubarb, Is 6d to 2s dozen bundles; asparagus, 9d to Is bundle; carrots and parsnips, Is dozen bundles; green peas, 5s to 7s sugar bag; potatoes, 7s cwt.; Canadian onions, 25s to 27s 6d crate; flew Zealand onions, 21s 6d crate. Produce and Cereals. • ‘ i , ' ■ - ' The demand for grain generally is easy. Wheat is steady at 5s 9d a bushel, while maize is quoted at 4s 9d, and oats at 4s 3d for Dunn’s, 4s for A Garton’s and 3s 9d for B Garton’s. Bran is unchanged at 7s 6d per 1001 b., and pollard remains at Bs. There is a good call for mixed grain, whioh is retailing at 4s 6d per bushel.Eggs, Butter and Fish. Eggs remain in fair supply, and are retailing at Is a dozen. . Butter is unchanged at is Id for superfine, Is for first grade and lOd and lid for separator. All varieties of fish have been In good supply this week. ADDINGTON MARKET. There was a strong demand for store sheep of all descriptions at the Addington market. Fat sheep fetched steady prices while lambs were firm, except for 1 an easing in extra heavy lines. A heavy yarding of cattle resulted In lower values. Pigs met with a keen demand. Store Sheep.—The entry was limited, the bulk of the offering being dry sheep'. All sold at late rates,- except hoggets, which were dearer. Ewes in wool, with lambs, made 18s 4d all counted, the highest'price for three years. Values were: Ordinary shorn ewe hoggets to lSs Bd, good woolled to 23s 2d, halfbred wethers 13s 4d to 14s 4d, good crossbred wethers 16s 8d to 17s, medium "halfbred 14s 8d to lss 7d, medium ewes in wool and lambs (all counted) to 18s 4d, ordinary to 14s 6d. Fat Lambs.—-The yarding of 7150 head was of good quality. Extra heavy sorts were up to Is 6d a head cheaper, but others sold firmly. Two exporters operated at values averaging between 7£d and 72d per lb. Values were: Extra prime heavy to 265, prime heavy 20s to 235, medium 17s to 19s 6d, light 14s to 16s 6d. Fat Sheep.—The entry of 4300 head compared with 3800 last week. The quality was good and the offering included some very good North Island lines. Wethers were Is clearer and ewes Is cheaper. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers to 295, prime heavy 24 s to 275, prime medium 21s Gd to 23s 6d, ordinary 18s to 21s, light 15s 6d to 17s 6d, extra prime heavy ewes to 295, prime heavy 22s to 245, prime medium 18s Gd to 21s 6d, ordinary 15s to 18s, light 12s to 14s 6d.

Fat Cattle.—The yarding was too heavy for requirements. Prices for steers were lower by 10s to £1 a head and cows and heifers by £l. Best beef made 22s .to 25s per fOOlb., good 18s to 21s, heavy-weight 15s 6d to 19s, medium-weight 11s to 13s, rough down to 10s. Values were: Extra prime heavy steers to £ll 17s 6d, prime heavy £8 10s to £lO 10s, prime medium-weight £7 10s to £9 10s, ordinary £5 5s to £7, light to £5, extra prime heifers to £9 7s Gd, prftne £5 5s to £7, medium £3 to £5, light to £2 15s, extra prime cows to £9 2s Gd. prime £4 10s to £5 15s, medium £3 to £4, light to £2 15s.

Fat Pigs.—There was a heavy entry including a well-finished consignment from the West Coast. The market was steady, with a keen demand. A total of 140 pigs was bought for export. Values were: Choppers 30s to £2 11s, baconers 40s to 47s Gd, heavy baconers 50s to 57s Gd, extra heavy £3 to £3 6s Gd, average 4d to 4fd por lb; porkers 26s 6d to 29s Gd, heavy 32s 6d to 36s 6d, average 4id to sjd per lb.

MATAIYIATA STOCK SALE. TM Fanners' Co-operative Auctioneering Coj, Ltd., report having held

their Matamata stock sale yesterday, when a good yarding of all classes was penned. All fat sheep were in good demand. A few pens of 2tooth woolly wethers and ewes attracted special attention, and keen competition was evident, advanced prices being realised. Ninety-eight 2-tooth ewes realised 295, while the 93 2-tooth wethers sold at 24s 9d, The first entry of this season’s store lambs found a ready sale. Cattle: A heavy entry of fat cows and heifers was penned with only a medium yarding of store and boner cattle. Cow and heifer beef of good quality sold at late rates, while no alteration was shown in other classes. Pigs: There was a full yarding- of fat pigs, there again being a large proportion of prime quality baconers. Competition was steady for all baconers, while light porkers were also keenly sought after, but heavy porkers and unfinished pigs showed a slight decrease on late sales. A small entry of stores and weaners sold readily under spirited competition, values being 3s to 5s in advance of other Waikato sales. A full yarding of sheep attracted buyers and the market was keen for all classes.
