BARONESS DE THIERRY. DEATH AT 100 YEARS. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The Baroness Mary Jane de. Thierry died yesterday morning at the age of iOl) years. She was the daughter-in-law of the famous Baron Charles de Thierry, who in 1523 arranged to acquire 40,000 acres from the Maoris along the shores of the Hokianga Harbour, while he was still in England, and eventually arrived in New Zealand with his family to substantiate his claim. This claim was not allowed ■by the British Government and. the land holding was reduced by the Maori chiefs to a relatively few aores. MRS A. BRUSTAD. . PROMINENT FLYING WOMAN. Prior to her marriage she was a flying enthusiast, and at one time contemplated a flight from England to Australia. Mrs Brustad was 25 years of age. Her death followed the birth of a son two days ago. She was New Zealand’s first woman pilot. Her husband was a former guide at Mount Cook. ' ( MRS W. FULLER. WELLINGTON, Thursday. The death has ocourred of Mrs Dorothy Fuller, wife of Mr Walter Fuller, and sister-in-law of Sir Benjamin Fuller and “Mr John Fuller, of Sydney. Mrs Fuller was an accomplisehd singer and musician. In her younger days she was associated with file professional stage for some years, and during her married life in Wellington she was for a time a member of the Wellington Amateur Operatio Society. She leaves two children, Jean and June Fuller.
